Mission Statement
The mission of this website is to explore implications of new neuroscience research to inform occupational therapy practitioners and educators on applications to clinical practice and evidence-based research.

Welcome
Hello and welcome to Translating Neuroscience for Occupational Therapists. This website will focus on new research in basic neuroscience and apply its findings to the clinical setting.  New research in neuroscience may take up to 17 years to reach the clinical setting. To better inform occupational therapy practice, I will post articles from four areas of neuroscience based on data collected from a survey taken by occupational therapists in the field of pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. These articles will be translated into understandable language and applications for the clinical setting.

As an occupational therapist it is not enough to just know the structure and function of the nervous system, we need to take that information and integrate our knowledge to understand the processes which are more complex and how it may affect the individual. We need to ask ourselves questions which will stimulate our knowledge base and research. It is the questions we ask which leads to our greater knowledge. I encourage discussions on these and any other topics in neuroscience and hope this website will be of   value to you.
